The hydraulic cutter head is designed to increase the solid concentration of the mixture, which is then transported through the suction and discharge pipes by the pressure pump to the designated destination. The power for this system can come from hydraulic, electric, or a combination of both. Key components such as the sand pump and hydraulic pump are powered by a diesel engine. The hydraulic pump also drives the lifting winch, swing winch, anchor boom winch, hydraulic spud carrier, and the cutter head, among other critical equipment.
